Domaine Virginie Thunevin 2021 – Bordeaux

The nose is fruity, elegant, racy and offers some concentration/power, finesse in its power and depth. There are notes of boysenberry, bright blackcurrant and more lightly fresh strawberry combined with a fine touch of bigarreau/almost roasted cherry, discreet hints of star anise and a subtle almost serene hint of pepper in the background. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral and reveals elegance, smoothness, a nice acidic structure and a certain tension. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/juicy blackberry, violet and more slightly roasted cherry combined with fine touches of fresh lily as well as fine hints of star anise, quite ripe berries, pepper and a very discreet hint of almost cardamom. Subtle chewiness and sapidity in the background. Good length. The tannins are supple and smooth.
