M. Chapoutier – Les Granilites 2017 – Saint-Joseph

The nose is elegant, aromatic, delicate, racy and offers an aromatic power as well as a certain intensity. It reveals notes of quince, dry lemon, small notes of dry mandarine associated with touches of sage, bee wax, bright apple as well as fine hints of apricot, apricot flowers as well as hints of sense of the place, a subtle hint of almost eucalyptus and an imperceptible hint of nutmeg (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers a juicy/acidulous frame, a good definition, suavity, a beautiful finesse of the grain, fat, precision, a certain tension as well as delicacy. On the palate this wine expresses notes of quince, dry lemon, small notes of crushed physalis associated with touches of bee wax, buttery brioche, sage as well as hints of sense of the place (local biotope), biscuit, crushed nectarine and discreet hints of fresh hazelnut. Good length. A beautiful suavity in the persistence.
