Château Haut-Sarpe 2010 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose offers a very fine concentration and a quite ripe fruit. It reveals notes of very ripe cassis, small dry black berries and small notes of crushed/quite ripe strawberry associated with touches of dry leaf/underwood, tobacco, dry violet as well as very fine hints of clay, sweet spices, a subtle hint of liquorice stick and an imperceptible hint of vanilla pod. The palate is fruity, straight, mineral, slightly tight and offers a good freshness, an iodine touch as well as a fresh frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of ripe wild cassis, quite ripe black plum and small notes of small dry black berries associated with touches of tobacco, liquorice stick, iode, camphor as well as hints of underwood/prey and a subtle hint of coffee. Tannins are well-built.
