Château Grand-Pontet 2010 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is fruity, racy and offers concentration, a racy power (terroir), richness (in control), a beautiful finesse of the grain and elegance. It reveals notes of fleshy blackberry, crushed violet plum and small notes of cassis associated with small touches of lily, lilac as well as fine hints of vanilla pod, green cardamom, a discreet hint of black tea, pepper, tonka bean, a discreet hint of mild tobacco and an imperceptible balsamic hint. The palate is fruity, fresh, beautifully racy, slightly tight and offers a well-built maturity, a fine acidulous frame, tension, elegance, purity as well as a good structure, a beautiful finesse and a very beautiful fruit. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed blackberry, concentrated cassis and small notes of plum associated with touches of crushed raspberry as well as hints of cornflower, lily, green cardamom, small hints of chocolate, tobacco, bourbon vanilla pod and an imperceptible hint of underwood (in the background). Tannins are fine racy and well-built. Good persistence.
