Prosper Maufoux – Les Gavrières 2018 – Santenay 1er Cru

The nose is fruity and offers a certain concentration, deepness, a beautiful fruit and intensity. It reveals notes of juicy/ripe black fruits, small ripe wild red fruits, small notes of lily associated with touches of crushed wild blackberry, cornflower, graphite as well as very fine hints of cherry blossom/small fruits, cuben pepper, very discreet hints of spices and an imperceptible hint of fresh leaf and tobacco. The palate is fresh, fruity, elegant and offers gourmandize, an acidulous frame, a beautiful racy minerality as well as fat, ampleness, a fine unctuosity, a beautiful fine/finely tight grain, a small aerial side, suppleness and elegance. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy/pulpy cherry, fleshy/fresh blackberry, small notes of bright plum associated with touches of cornflower, blueberry, lily as well as hints of liquorice/zan, almond, nutmeg, sweet spices and a very discreet hint of sugared mild tobacco. Tannins are elegant and well-built. A very discreet hint of tonka bean on the persistence.
