Vasques D Carvalho – 2016 Vintage Porto

The nose is fruity, elegant and offers a small charming side. It reveals notes of violet, cassis and small notes of boysenberry associated with touches of wild strawberry, liquorice stick as well as a very discreet hint of cedar (in the background) and caramelisation. The palate is fruity, fine and offers a small freshness, a small tension, elegance, a bit aerial, a beautiful finesse of the grain, softness/delicacy as well as a slight acidulous frame. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed blueberry, crushed boysenberry and small notes of wild strawberry associated with a hint of chocolate, redcurrant jam as well as discreet hints of caramelization and a very discreet hint of caramelized orange. Tannins are fine, very slight tight and a bit firm. Good length.
