Raymond – Merlot 2016, Reserve Selection – Napa Valley

The nose is fruity, well-balanced and offers a slight juiciness as well as a very slight concentration. It reveals notes of black cherry, licorice and small notes of cassis associated with small touches of blueberry as well as discreet hints of blackberry and sweet spices. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, slightly powerful and offers a slight juiciness, a small suavity, a small racy minerality, a good structure as well as a slight freshness. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy blackberry, juicy cassis and small notes of blueberry associated with slight touches of licorice / Zan as well as discreet hints of tobacco, discreet toasted hints / caramelization and a very discreet hint of coffee. Tannins are well-built and slightly firm. Good length. There are slight touches of spices and coffee on the persistence.
