Quinta dos Murças – Reserva 2011 – Vinhas Velhas & Pisa a Pé – Esporao – Douro

The nose is fruity, gourmand and offers a slight density as well as a slight elegance. It reveals notes of blackberry cream and cassis associated with hints of Quetsche plum skin, mocha, caramelized oak as well as a hint of cardamom. The palate is fruity, mineral, fresh, fine, silky and offers an acid frame, a good texture, a nice expression as well as tension. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of blackberry jam, cassis cream, slight notes of raspberry and small berries associated with a slight touch of caramelized orak, vanilla, chocolate as well as a discreet hint of black pepper on the finish. Tannins are fine and very slightly dry. Good length and persistence. The persistence/finish is gourmand and offers a very discreet hint of iodine. Good job!
