Joseph Mellot, Le Connétable 2020 – Sancerre

Joseph Mellot, Le Connétable 2020 – Sancerre

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is fragrant and firstly offers savoury and spicy notes. It expresses aromas of cloves, white pepper, ground nutmeg, combined with light notes of leather and fresh tobacco. Then, we find an elegant floral bouquet (fresh rose, lilac), as well as ripe and juicy fruits: red cherry, strawberry, crushed raspberry, a touch of blackcurrant, roasted red cherry and elderberry. The palate expresses firm tannins, a certain power and juiciness. We find notes of red cherry, strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant and elderberry, associated with notes of sweet spices (clove, nutmeg, licorice), smoke, leather, fresh tobacco and flowers (violet, lilac). The tannins are firm, slightly bitter and gripping. A salivating acidity gives liveliness to the wine and softens a slight a stringency of young tannins. The finish is persistent, enveloping, chiselled, sapid and expresses all the complexity of the wine.
