Domaine Michel Juillot 2019 – Corton-Perrières Grand Cru

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is delicate, refined, harmonious and complex. The first nose is floral and subtly herbaceous: it expresses notes of fresh rose, cherry blossom, lilac and dried iris, as well as touches of fresh tobacco, wild mint and cut thyme. On the second nose, we find delicate touches of sweet spices (licorice, cumin, white pepper, nutmeg, a touch of vanilla), as well as roasted notes (roasted hazelnut, a very delicate note of heated wood, coffee, cocoa). Then, the wine expresses notes of ripe red fruits (wild strawberries, morello cherries, red cherries in jam, crushed raspberries, blueberries). On the palate, the wine offers elegance and finesse. The flavors are delicate, but gourmand and enveloping: we find notes of wild strawberry, juicy morello cherry, redcurrant jelly, crushed raspberry, blueberry, combined with floral touches of iris, violet and lily, as well as a touch of chocolate with mint, fresh wild mint and oregano. In the mid-palate, the wine expresses the warm side of sweet spices (licorice, vanilla, a touch of cinnamon), roasted (roasted hazelnut, sweet coffee) and chocolate. The finish is very long, with lots of flavor and depth. The acidity is salivating, but supple, in harmony with the profile of the wine. The tannins are silky, velvety and fine. A gourmet, elegant and complex wine.
