François & Fils 2018 – Côte Rôtie

The nose is aromatic, elegant, racy and offers a beautiful finesse of the grain as well as a good definition. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, small ripe wild fruits, small notes of grey pepper associated with touches of garrigue/dry aromatic herbs, a racy minerality as well as hints of small flowers, liquorice stick, discreet hints of vanilla, almond and a subtle hint of saffron. The palate is fruity, well-balanced and offers gourmandize, suavity, delicacy (a square of silk), justness, precision, a small fat, a controlled power, richness (full of control), a fine aerial side in the approach as well as a fine and silky beautiful grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed blackberry, chocolate, pulpy violet plum, small notes of small crushed berries associated with touches of raspberry, black olive, vanilla, aromatic herbs, dry ground of local forest, thyme, fine hints of chocolate as well as discreet hints of toasted hazelnut, saffron, sage and toasted oak.
