Edmond Cornu & Fils – Vieilles Vignes 2017 – Aloxe-Corton

The nose is elegant, aromatic and offers a fine intensity as well as a very fine concentration. It reveals notes of wild blackberry, black cherry and small notes of cassis associated with fine touches of flowers (dry rose, lilac…) as well as fine hints of liquorice stick, mild tobacco leaves, toasted/caramelized and an imperceptible hint of Bourbon vanilla (in the background). The palate is fruity, well-balanced, racy, elegant and offers a beautiful definition/dimension, a beautiful juiciness, a beautiful minerality/mineral frame, freshness, a beautiful finesse of the grain, silkiness, gourmandize as well as suavity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy/juicy black cherry, fleshy/juicy blackberry and small notes of fleshy wild strawberry associated with hints of juicy cassis, fine hints of juicy Quetsche plum, chocolate, toasted, flowers (cornflower…) as well as a very discreet hint of tobacco leaves and zan. Tannins are elegant.
