July, 27, 2022, AXA Millésimes announced the purchase of Platt Vineyards in the western end of Sonoma Coast. It is not the first acquisition of the group in the United States. In 2018 it came into the ownership of two properties in Napa Valley – Outpost and True Vineyards. Both are situated in the high elevation Howell Mountain AVA and specialize in top-quality Cabernet Sauvignon.
The newly acquired Platt Vineyards is the home of the Burgundian varieties. The cooling influence of the Pacific Ocean makes the region next to the town of Freestone a perfect place for growing cool climate Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The winemaker of Outpost Vineyards, Thomas Rivers Brown, possesses a winery here. It is due to his recommendation and experience that AXA Millésimes decided to add this gem to the portfolio that already includes the most prestigious estates in France, Hungary, Portugal, and the USA. Currently the Platt Vineyards extend at 111,3 ha of land, including 15,7 ha planted with grape vines.
