The Sainte-Foy Bordeaux appellation incorporates the “Union des Côtes de Bordeaux”
On Thursday, April 28, 2016, the General Assembly of Côtes de Bordeaux’ winemakers has approved unanimously the integration of the Sainte-Foy Bordeaux appellation in the “Union des Côtes de Bordeaux“.
A historical event! For the first time in its history, the Union des Côtes de Bordeaux is growing! From the 2016 harvest, the Union des Côtes de Bordeaux will bring together 5 terroirs : Blaye, Cadillac, Castillon, Francs and Sainte-Foy. With these news it confirms its attractiveness, dynamism and strengthens its influence among the wines of Bordeaux.
Sainte-Foy Bordeaux: A fifth member to the Côtes de Bordeaux !
From the 2016 harvest, the Sainte-Foy Bordeaux appellation will officially become “Sainte-Foy Côtes de Bordeaux“. A decision that comes after eight years of meetings, exchanges and work between all members.
“We wanted to join the Côtes de Bordeaux because we had the desire to integrate a force that would allow us to benefit from dynamic and impactful promotions. So it is a real satisfaction to have our application approved ! ” (Wilfrid Franc de Ferrière, président de l’appellation Sainte-Foy Bordeaux)
Finally, these are 30 new members, a geographical area of 500 hectares and a production of 10,000 extra hectoliters (including soft and sweet white wines), which will become part of the Union des Côtes de Bordeaux.
