Weingut Forstreiter, Riesling Ried Schiefer – Kremstal – 2021

The wine has a pale lemon-yellow color with green reflections. The nose is aromatic, tangy and expresses perceptible but integrated vegetal notes. It also expresses aromas of ripe citrus fruits (Meyer lemon, lime, pomelo, orange juice), crunchy stone fruits (white peach, green plum), white flowers (a very fine touch of dried acacia), as well as a peppery and minty (white pepper, peppermint), mineral (hot stone) and slightly smoky note after aeration. On the palate, the wine is unctuous, with a slightly oily texture and offers flavors of ripe and juicy fruit. It expresses notes of yellow peach, yellow plum, ripe yellow lemon, candied lemon peel, orange zest, as well as crushed green apple, apple blossom, white pepper, peppermint and a touch of smoke in the background. The finish is long, rich, complex and fresh at the same time. At the end of the mouth, we find notes of candied lemon, a fine minerality (warm stone and a hint of salinity), as well as a pleasant bitterness. An expressive, full-bodied, savory and complex wine, with good structure and refreshing acidity. Good aging potential.
