Ramos Pinto, Unfiltered 2018 – Late Bottles Vintage

The wine has a deep ruby color with purplish reflections. The nose offers richness, depth, directness and a pleasant acidity of black fruits. It expresses notes of fresh crushed blackcurrant, crème de cassis, fresh wild blackberry, dried morello cherry, morello cherry jam, wild plum, crushed wild strawberry, as well as a savoury spiciness (fresh licorice, cumin ground, white pepper, grated nutmeg) and a herbaceous touch of dried peppermint. We also find a refined hint of dark chocolate, bitter cocoa, bitter almond and sweet coffee. The palate is savoury, concentrated, with a powerful tannic structure. The flavors on the palate reflect the aromas on the nose: we find notes of wild blackberry, crushed blackcurrant, crème de cassis, morello cherry jam, crushed wild strawberry, as well as chocolate prunes and kirsch cherry, with a pleasant bitterness of dark chocolate, black tea with bergamot, bitter cocoa and coffee, associated with spiciness, which returns at the end of the mouth (cloves, cumin, liquorice, white pepper), with subtle touches of roasted meat. Beautiful acidity and fine tannic texture. Richness, gourmandise, controlled power. Balance, lots of flavors and good potential.
