Poças 2005 Colheita

Poças 2005 Colheita

The wine has a pale garnet color with tiled reflections. The nose is reserved at first, but the wine benefits from aeration. It then expresses notes of fruit jam (griotte jam, strawberry jam), dried fruit (dried cherry, prunes, dried grape, dried fig), a touch of crushed strawberry, as well as a  touch of torréfaction (coffee, toasted almond, caramelized hazelnut), oxidative notes (caramel, dried walnut) and sweet spices in the background (nutmeg, dried ginger). On the palate, the wine offers sapidity, complexity and gourmandise. The oxidative flavors of nuts and caramel are expressive, but integrated into a rich fruity substance and a savory spiciness. We also find notes of fruit jam and dried fruit, reflecting the nose (prunes, dried grapes, dried fig, dried cherry, cherry jam), caramelized hazelnut (even with a fine praline side), as well as a good bitterness of coffee, dark chocolate and toasted bitter almond. A silky and velvety texture of tannins is felt at the very end of the palate, associated with a supple, but pleasant acidity.
