Dumnacus Vignerons, 2020 – Chinon

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is aromatic, concentrated and offers a certain complexity. It expresses notes of morello cherry, black plum, crushed blackcurrant, dried raspberry, strawberry, red currants, combined with notes of sweet spices (licorice, white pepper, a touch of clove) and toasted notes in the background, as well as floral notes (violet, dried rose, cherry blossoms). On the palate, the wine is juicy, concentrated and fruity, with firm but fine tannins and an expressive and pleasant spiciness. It expresses notes of ripe morello cherry, wild strawberry, black plum, crushed blackcurrant and raspberry coulis, as well as slightly sweet flavors of toasted vanilla, dark chocolate, and chocolate cherry, complemented by notes liquorice, cloves and a delicate floral bouquet (violet, cherry blossom). Beautiful tannic structure, a touch of bitterness and a lively acidity which returns in a juicy and rather persistent finish. A straight wine, with substance and power.
