Domaine Bouchard Père & Fils, Le Corton 2020 – Corton Grand Cru

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is deep, concentrated and complex. It offers a generous and juicy fruitiness (we find notes of ripe morello cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, blueberry jam, roasted red cherry), associated with pronounced, but enveloped, oaky notes and a hint of torrefaction (toasted oak, toasted bread, toasted hazelnut, mild coffee), with fragrant and refined spicy touches (licorice, grilled vanilla, pepper seeds, nutmeg, clove), as well as a subtle herbaceous hint (mint dried, pine needles). There is also a fine floral bouquet that appears after aeration (fresh rose, cornflower, violet, lily). On the palate, the wine is fragrant, juicy, enveloping and complex, and offers accuracy, freshness and finesse. It expresses the flavors of very ripe morello cherry, chocolate cherry, crushed wild strawberry, raspberry coulis, redcurrant jelly, blueberry jam, as well as a delicate spiciness (roasted vanilla, cloves, cumin, licorice, fresh nutmeg, a hint of cinnamon in the background), combined with notes of dark chocolate, sweet coffee, mint chocolate, caramelized hazelnut and a fine floral bouquet (fresh rose, violet, lily, peony). Beautiful crunchy acidity, the finish is persistent, ample, gourmand and refined, with notes of cherry in chocolate, dried mint and toasted almond. Elegance, gourmandise and complexity, which must develop over years. Good aging potential.
