Château Filhot, Grand Cru Classé en 1855, 2021 – Sauternes

The wine has a golden color of medium intensity. The nose expresses notes of roasted apple, roasted pear, peach in syrup, caramelized pineapple, citrus jam (bitter orange, lemon), apricot in syrup, as well as delicate notes of bee’s wax, honey, a refined floral bouquet (apple blossom, acacia, lime blossom, chamomile), as well as a touch of black tea and wet leaves in the background. On the palate, the wine offers richness, elegance and freshness, all in balance. It expresses notes of fresh, very ripe pineapple, apricot in syrup, very ripe yellow peach, roasted apple, bitter orange jam, candied lemon peel, honey, acacia, lime blossom infusion, Earl Gray tea with a subtle smokiness, caramel and sweet spices (vanilla, cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg). The finish is very long, refined and offers good bitterness and a nice acidity which balances the richness and sweetness of the wine. A concentrated and rich, but elegant wine.
