Château Angélus 2021 – Saint-Émilion Grand Cru

The nose is fresh, elegant and reveals a lovely delicacy, velvety precision, depth, a very fine and delicate grain. There are notes of pulpy wild strawberry, violet and more lightly blueberry combined with hints of lily, star anise, ripe/pulpy red berries, fine hints of crushed berries as well as delicate hints of sweet blond tobacco and a subtle hint almost of Madagascar pepper. The palate is fruity, balanced and fresh, offering minerality, freshness, good definition, deliciousness, juiciness/freshness, acidity, a nice sense of detail, minerality, delicacy, velvety texture and energy. There are notes of juicy/pulpy raspberry, violet and more lightly fleshy red berries combined with hints of blueberry, fresh/pulpy blue plum and delicate hints of fresh blond tobacco, bourbon vanilla, star anise and a subtle hint of almond. A very discreet hint of almost saline/sapid on the finish/persistence. Some spicy notes from the Cabernet Franc. Nice freshness and delicacy. A subtle hint of graphite in the background. An airy approach to its matter. The tannins are elegant, fresh and relatively mellow. A beautiful expression of Bordeaux classicism, with freshness and dynamism.
