Camille Giroud, Chambertin, Grand Cru 2019

Camille Giroud, Chambertin, Grand Cru 2019

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is very perfumed and fruity, with a lot of freshness. It expresses notes of ripe red and black fruits (raspberry, Bigarreau cherry, red currant, blueberry, blackcurrant, blue plum, blackberry) with delicate touches of sweet spices (licorice, cinnamon), white pepper, herbs (peppermint, rosemary) and fresh flowers (lilac, peony, cornflower). There are also very fine notes of toast and torrefaction in the background. On the palate, the wine has pure and expressive flavors. It reveals notes of sour cherry, blackberry, Bigarreau cherry, red currant, blackberry, blueberry, as well as a slightly meaty, toasty and smoky note in the background. There are also spicy and savory notes of nutmeg, clove, licorice and dried sage in the background. Beautiful tannic structure, firm, but fine and silky, with concentration and enveloping fruitiness. Nice spicy persistance with pleasant acidity. A round and sweet finish. A rich and gourmand wine in its yougth, but which needs time to open up and show its potential.
