Vente-privée.com will offert a flash sale of Yquem
Three vintages of the 1st Grand Cru Classé Supérieur of Sauternes will be available in flash sale
Vente-Privée.com is a flash sale website that was created in 2001. Currently it has more 14 million of members in France and 21 million in Europe. For a short time the website not sell only manufactured products but also gastronomic products such as wine. The website does not buy wines but reserves a maximum quantity of wine so, for exemple when 1000 bottles are sold we can be sure that 1000 bottles will be delivered.
In 2013 the e-commerce website sold just over 3.3 million bottles of wine with a revenue of 36 million Euros. Members of Vente-Privée who already had the opportunity to buy Chapoutier wines, Guigal wines, Lurton wines or currently Baron Philippe de Rothschild wines will be able to acquire the vintages 1996, 1998 and 2000 of the prestigious Château d’Yquem (1st Grand Cru Supérieur of Sauternes) on 11th May 2014. Note that this is the first time that Yquem wines will be sold outside the channel of the traditional wine merchants (negociant).
Currently prices are not known but they will be communicated on the D-day of the flash sale. What I hear from the market is Vente-Privée should sell Yquem wines with a discount of 30% or 40% compared to the market prices. For example, currently the market price for a bottle of Château d’Yquem 1996 is approximately 190 euros *, so we should buy it on Vente-Privée about 130 euros.
For Vente-Privée this sale permit definetely to become a major player in the Grands Crus Classés web market. Also, this flash sale should help Vente-Privée to convince other wineries to sell their wines on the website. For Chateau d’Yquem this flash sale is a communication campaign that permit to communicate and to win over the feminine target of Vente-Privée (63% of website members are women). It will also permit to test a new distribution channel for the château.
A sale that promises to be as exceptional as the proposed wines!
