CASTEL sells Château Mirefleurs to CHANGYU and rationalizes its château portfolio
CASTEL, the leading wine producer in France, and CHANGYU, No. one wine producer in China, conclude the sale of Château Mirefleurs in Bordeaux wines
CHANGYU group is acquiring Château Mirefleurs, an estate owned since 1970 by the CASTEL family, which is keeping an interest in the business. At the edge of Bordeaux, the Château Mirefleurs vineyard covers nearly 40 hectares of integrated grape growing, with a Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. This property will now be run by CHANGYU, which until now has handled its exclusive marketing under its two names, Château Mirefleurs and Château Techeney. The popularity of Château Mirefleurs with CHANGYU reinforces Castel’s strategy in China: enjoying real legitimacy with the premium Bordeaux wines that complement the great wine labels.
With this agreement, CASTEL contributes to CHANGYU’s influence in French wines. The Chinese entity has agreed in turn to promote the two new Castel brands in China.
CASTEL and CHANGYU: long-standing bonds
This operation is an extension of the bonds developed between the two groups as historical partners since 2002. Castel works to foster the vibrancy of French wines in China with this producer partner and is a 51% partner in the CASTEL-CHANGYU WINERY in Langfang and a 30% owner of Château CHANGYU-CASTEL in eastern China. This renowned winery spans 135 hectares of vineyards in Yantai, in the province of SHANDONG.
CASTEL rationalizes its Château and Domaine portfolio in France
With this partnership, CASTEL rationalizes its Château and Domaine portfolio in France. The family now owns 2 châteaux with a Bordeaux appellation to complement its 2 châteaux with Bordeau Supérieur appellations. This comprehensive offering enables the brand to optimize its presence on all markets and meet the needs of its various distribution channels around the world.
