Lena Filliatreau 2020 – Saumur – Champigny

Lena Filliatreau 2020 – Saumur – Champigny

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is reserved, but more expressive after aeration. We find notes of strawberry, fresh red cherry, raspberry, red currant, crushed blackcurrant and a touch of violet, dried rose, blackcurrant leaf and a hint of white pepper in the background. The palate is juicy and gourmand, but structured (the tannins are a little grippy in the mid-palate). It expresses notes of compote red cherry, morello cherry, crushed raspberry, strawberry, as well as a touch of blackcurrant and the tannic side of wild plum. We also find a hint of blackcurrant leaf, dried mint, violet and fresh rose. The acidity is high, salivating. It balances the tannins of the wine and brings freshness. The finish is moderately persistent, juicy and fruity, with good bitterness and a fine herbaceous side of wild mint.
