Laurent Jouffe – XO – 1er Cru de Cognac – Grande Champagne

The nose is fruity and offers a slight richness, finesse as well as a fine power. It reveals notes of dried orange jam and slight touches of green lemon zests associated with hints of exotic fruits/quenette as well as a subtle hint of lemon tree flowers and slight toasted hints/caramel. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, round, fat, racy and offers a slight acid frame, tension, finesse as well as a slight aerial side. In the mouth this Cognac expresses notes of candied lemon, green lemon zests, candied mandarin and touches of orange jam, dried orange zests, exotic fruits associated with a hint of pear in syrup, caramel, rancio as well as a very discreet grilled hint and cacao on the finish. Good length and persistence. There is a subtle hint of pepper. The aftertaste is slightly powerful.
