Iris Pourpre de Desmirail 2020 – Haut-Médoc

Iris Pourpre de Desmirail 2020 – Haut-Médoc

The wine has a deep ruby color. On the nose, it expresses gourmandise, concentration and savouriness. We find the aromas of wild blackberry, blackcurrant (even a touch of crème de cassis in the background), wild strawberries, raspberry coulis, fresh crushed blueberries as well as blueberry jam, combined with a refined spicy side. and subtle, which highlights the fruitiness and the juiciness of aromas. There is a fine aroma of cinnamon, toasted vanilla, ground cloves, licorice, as well as a touch of cocoa, mint chocolate and fresh almond, combined with a hint of fresh tobacco, dried pine needles, rose and cornflower. In the mouth, the wine is melted, round and enveloping. The attack is silky, fruity and expresses notes of ripe fruit (blackcurrant, wild blackberry, juicy morello cherry, wild strawberry and blueberry). We then find notes of sweet spices (licorice, cumin, a fine touch of cinnamon and vanilla), cocoa, fresh tobacco, pine needles and flowers (cornflower, a touch of violet), as well as wild mint. The tannins are present, structured, but fine. The finish is persistent, tasty, with a nice acidity and a touch of good bitterness. An elegant, accessible wine, with complexity and controlled power.
