Domaine Moissenet-Bonnard, Les Epenots 2017 – Pommard Premier Cru

The wine has a pale ruby colour with a garnet hue. The nose is fragrant and offers pronounced and complex aromas: there is a touch of roasted meat and grilled mushrooms at the beginning, which are complemented by a ripe and concentrated fruity bouquet. There are notes of wild strawberry, crushed strawberry, red cherry, Morello cherry, blackcurrant, blueberry jam and red currant, as well as hints of roasted meat, smoke, sweet spices (cloves, nutmeg) and dried flowers and herbs (dried mint, dried sage, dried rose petal and blueberry). On the palate, the wine offers juiciness, concentration and lightness at the same time. It expresses notes of fresh and candied red and black fruits (fresh blackcurrant, Morello cherry, wild strawberry, crushed strawberry, red cherry), sweet spices (cinnamon, white pepper, clove, liquorice) as well as dried flowers and herbs (dried mint and sage, lilac, cornflower and rose petal). The structure of the wine is firm, with slightly harsh tannins, a positive bitterness and a velvety side thanks to the concentration and richness of the fruit on the palate. Good length with juicy fruit and a fresh, pleasantly acidic finish. A wine with good ageing potential, full-bodied, but already accessible.
