Domaine de l’Amauve, Les Merrelies, Côtes du Rhône Villages Séguret 2020

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is expressive and ripe, with a slight touch of bitterness in the background (bitter almond). It reveals notes of morello cherry, black plum, blackberry, blackcurrant, crushed strawberry, raspberry coulis, crème de cassis and morello cherry jam. There are also notes of sweet spices (cinnamon, clove, liquorice), bitter cocoa, coffee and roasted hazelnut. On the palate, the attack expresses a lot of freshness (ripe sour cherry, black plum, blackcurrant), as well as warm notes of prunes, blackcurrant cream, dark chocolate, coffee, black pepper, and a delicacy of red currant and chocolate mint. The tannins are powerful and grippy, a little rough due to their youth. Good overall balance, thanks to the wine’s high acidity and bitterness on the finish, which refreshes the richness and warming sensation of alcohol in this wine. Good length and concentration.
