Clos Dubreuil 2012 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

Clos Dubreuil 2012 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru

On the nose, the wine offers a nice complexity, depth, varied and pure aromas. On the first nose, it expresses very subtle tertiary notes of forest floor, fallen leaves and a fine touch of truffle in the background. The second nose offers a spiciness and delicate notes of torrefaction. It expresses aromas of liquorice, cumin, freshly ground nutmeg, as well as a touch of toasted vanilla and coffee in the background. There are also notes of flowers (dried cornflower, fresh peony, dried rose, a touch of fresh violet) and fresh herbs (peppermint, cut thyme, fresh bay leaf) The first nose is reserved, but the wine expresses itself better after aeration. It first offers notes of blond tobacco, fresh wild mint, liquorice stick and a fine touch of menthol and pine needles in the background. On the second nose, the aromas are complemented by notes of ripe and juicy fruit: morello cherries, wild strawberries, blueberries, black plums, raspberry coulis and roasted red cherries, as well as a subtle woody and spicy (the notes of vanilla powder, coffee, toast and cocoa powder). On the palate, the wine offers depth and freshness at the same time. It expresses the flavors of fresh red and black fruits (morello cherry, black plum, red cherry, wild strawberry, red currant, blueberry), associated with notes of roasted fruits (roasted red cherry, raspberry coulis), tasty spices (grated nutmeg, clove, a hint of vanilla), lightly smoked and toasted. There are also fine herbaceous and floral notes of dried mint, bay leaf, peony and dried rose petals. The tannins are firm, a bit drying, but they offer the wine a good structure. The finish is persistent and complex, developing into roasted, spicy and chocolatey notes on the finish. A well-structured, refined, powerful, but harmonious wine thanks to its elegant notes of development, good acidity and youthful aromas of fresh fruit.
