Clos des Jacobins 2010 – Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, Grand Cru Classé

The nose is powerful, racy, aromatic, complex, dense and offers a melodious side. It reveals notes of ripe wild blackberry, small wild black fruits, small notes of blueberry associated with touches of crunchy wild strawberry, lily, crushed violet plum as well as fine hints of nutmeg, toasted/roasted hazelnut, chocolate and a very discreet hint of caramelization/almost brioche, graphite and a very discreet hint of underwood/mushroom. The palate is beautifully racy, fruity and offers a juicy/acidulous frame, a beautiful definition, freshness as well as a beautiful minerality and a small suavity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of juicy/pulpy cassis, crushed violet plum, small notes of small crushed/creamy black fruits associated with touches of raspberry, violet, black cherry as well as hints of liquorice stick, caramelization, chocolate, vanilla, camphor/graphite, a very discreet hint of saffron and toasted almond. Tannins are elegant, powerful and racy. Good length with power. An imperceptible hint of underwood/truffle in the finish/persistence. A very discreet powdered hint on the persistence. A very beautiful wine!
