Château Fourcas-Hosten 2020 – Lisrac-Médoc

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is subtle, refined and complex. The first nose offers distinct notes of torrefaction and oak: toasted pine nuts, toasted hazelnut and a very light touch of heated wood. The second nose offers concentration and finesse at the same time. It expresses notes of ripe red fruits, with a hint of acidity and bitterness (elderberry, cranberries, combined with wild strawberries, blackcurrant, wild blueberry, morello cherry and wild plum). We also find fine spicy notes (licorice, cumin, cloves, roasted coriander seeds), roasting (coffee), bitter cocoa, as well as aromatic herbs (wild mint, rosemary, grilled thyme) and flowers (rose, violet, iris). The palate is juicy, precise, fruity and delicate, associated with a firm tannin structure. It expresses notes of ripe fruit (griotte, wild plum, wild strawberry, blackberry, blueberry, crushed raspberry), wild flowers, dried rose and cornflower petals, aromatic herbs (wild mint, rosemary), as well as refined roasted touches (toasted pine nuts, toasted hazelnut, mild coffee), sweet spices (licorice, coriander seeds, cumin, toasted vanilla in the background), as well as a hint of caramel and bitter chocolate in the background. The tannins are melted and fine, but powerful. Beautiful persistence on the palate, complex and savoury, with lots of gourmandise and freshness. A harmonious and gormand wine, with aging potential.
