Château de Montalbret – Cuvée Renaissance 2019 –  Montagne Saint-Emilion 

The nose is aromatic, racy and offers a fine power as well as a very fine controlled richness. It reveals notes of Boysen berry, crushed strawberry, small notes of crushed cassis associated with touches of small blue fruits, cornflower/violet as well as fine hints of zan, toasted, tonka bean and a subtle hint of sugared mild tobacco. The palate is fruity, fresh, mineral, well-balanced, finely tight and offers a fresh frame, tension, a small density, a fine richness, juiciness as well as a controlled power. On the palate this wine expresses notes of crushed wild blackberry, crushed cassis, small notes of violet associated with touches of small blue fruits, fine hints of tonka bean/mocha, toasted almond as well as a subtle hint of cardamom, spices and mild tobacco. Tannins are very discreetly firm. Good length. There is a very discreet hint of coffee and vanilla in the background/persistence.
