Château de Gironville 2020 – Haut-Médoc Cru Bourgeois

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is expressive, aromatic and offers fresh herbaceous notes at the beginning, combined with a savoury touch of sweet spices. We find notes of crushed wild mint, rosemary, licorice (or a little star anise), ground nutmeg and cloves. Then, the nose expresses delicate floral notes of violet and cornflower, associated with a precise and fresh fruity substance: notes of blueberry, blackcurrant, morello cherry, tangy bigarreau cherry, wild plum, as well as a delicate hint bitter cocoa and mint chocolate in the background. On the palate, the wine is concentrated, juicy, even warm: the attack offers richness, roundness and a fruity, ripe and slightly sweet substance (wild plum, a touch of prunes, morello cherry, roasted red cherry, coulis of raspberry, wild strawberry), combined with notes of sweet spices (licorice, cumin, cloves), dark chocolate, as well as a refreshing touch of mint and dried pine needles. The tannins are enveloping and have a velvety texture, as well as good structure. The acidity is lively and refreshing. The finish is persistent, fruity and gourmand.
