Château Coutet 2022 – Barsac, Grand Cru Classé

Château Coutet 2022 – Barsac, Grand Cru Classé

Pretty elegant nose, precise, frank, fine, incisive and offers a certain straightness in elegance. We find notes of kumquat, zest and racy minerality associated with touches of dried apricot, yellow peach, fine hints of crystallized lemon, acacia, iodine, toasted/sweet spices as well as ‘with a very discreet hint of roasted pineapple (in the background) and fresh quénette. The palate is fruity, balanced and offers freshness, minerality, a juicy/tangy structure, energy, tension, accuracy, roundness, lovely precision as well as an eye for detail. On the palate this wine expresses notes of pulpy/candied brugnon, candied peach and more lightly candied mandarin associated with touches of orangette, sweet zest, crystallized lemon, hints of quénette, elderflowers as well as ‘with hints of verbena, racy minerality and almond. Good length. A discreet hint of fresh saffron in the background (on its floral side). Beautiful freshness.
