Château Cantelys 2020 – Pessac-Léognan

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is aromatic and offers a nice concentration of ripe and juicy fruits. It expresses notes of fresh red and black fruits (blackcurrant, wild strawberry, Morello cherry, wild blackberry, blue plum, red cherry), subtle notes of candied and roasted fruit in the background (roasted cherry, blackcurrant jam), sweet spices (liquorice, white pepper, cloves, a light vanilla note), light roasting (coffee, toast), herbs (dried mint, rosemary, tea leaf), delicate floral notes of peony and of violets as well as a sweet touch of mint chocolate. On the palate, the wine is precise and structured. The attack is open and fruity; the wine expresses juicy fruit flavors of cassis, black plum, sour cherry, strawberry and red cherry. In the mid-palate, the wine expresses spiciness and torrefaction (notes of clove, white pepper, liquorice, cocoa, ground coffee) and slightly herbaceous (dried mint, dried thyme). Beautiful roundness and suppleness in the mouth with a subtle bitterness in the background. The tannins are young, and a bit grippy, but fine and enveloped. Nice acidity which brings freshness to the finish. The finish is persistent, fruity and ripe. An elegant and pleasant wine.
