Cave Robert & Marcel, Cornélius 1831 2020 – Bourgueil

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is concentrated, fruity and very ripe, even a bit sweet. It expresses notes of wild blackberry, blackcurrant (even crème de cassis), wild strawberry, morello cherry jam, fresh morello cherry, as well as subtle notes of sweet spices (licorice, grated nutmeg, cumin, cloves, a hint of toasted vanilla in the background), roasted (mild coffee), dried flowers and herbs (violet, dried rose petals, fresh tobacco, dried mint). The palate offers a firm tannin structure and lively acidity, which balances the dryness of young tannins. The flavors are less sweet and more tangy: we find notes of red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, fresh red currant, morello cherry and a hint of blackcurrant, associated with fresh notes of blackcurrant leaf, mint, cut grass, as well as notes of licorice, ground cumin, cloves, violet and rose petals. Good persistence in the mouth, on the tangy side of red cherry and a hint of vanilla in the background. A structured and chiseled wine.
