Castello d’Albola – Il Solatio 2010 – Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

The nose is elegant, gourmet, aromatic and offers a fine intensity as well as a small complexity. The wine needs to be decanted. It reveals notes of blueberry, boysenberry and ripe wild strawberry combined with touches of garrigue, cuben pepper, spices, caramelization as well as a very discreet hint of truffle (in the background, after aeration) and an imperceptible hint of undergrowth. The palate is beautifully gourmande, elegant, well defined, juicy and offers minerality, a beautiful acid frame, a beautiful suavity and complexity. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy wild strawberry, fleshy redcurrant, blueberry and small notes of boysenberry combined with a hint of licorice, colas, black olive, caramelized oak and discreet touches of tobacco, olive, sweet spices and an imperceptible touch of chocolate (in the background). Tannins are fine and well-built. Good length.
