Cantina Frentana – Panarda 2013 Riserva – Montepulciano D’Abruzzo

The nose is aromatic and offers power as well as a fine concentration. It reveals notes of wild berries, tonka beans, crushed/ripe redcurrant and Bigarreau cherries combined with small notes of blackberry, strawberry as well as discreet touches of sweet spices and a subtle hint of Timut pepper. The palate is fruity, well-balanced, racy, precise, elegant and offers a beautiful minerality (mineral frame), a beautiful definition, a small suavity, roundness, harmony, a beautiful freshness, a small airy side as well as a beautiful and (very) slightly tight grain. On the palate this wine expresses notes of fleshy blackberry, ripe crushed redcurrant and small notes of cherry associated with slight touches of tonka bean / chocolate, caramelized oak, caramelized almond, a very discreet hint of olive / garrigue, Timut pepper as well as very discreet hints of sweet spices and vanilla. Tannins are fine and well-built. There are hints of dark chocolate / cocoa and toasted hints on the persistence (bring gourmandise). Beautiful and complex aromatic persistence (cocoa, ripe / juicy fruit, toasted, almond, undergrowth …).
