Allegrini \ Recioto della Valpolicella Classica Docg 2019

The 2019 vintage is increasingly proving to be a benchmark year across many appellations. It embodies everything one seeks in a wine, especially for those who prioritize bottle aging potential—standing in contrast to the trend favoring immediate performance and instant gratification. Perhaps thanks to climate change, this vintage delivers power, substance, precision, and a distinctive charisma defined by its unique markers. Additionally, the role of the producer’s stylistic approach—their craftsmanship—elevates it further: challenging itself to create the best interpretation possible.  A cold spring delayed the vegetative cycle, but this was recovered during the summer, leading to a slightly later harvest and yields that were slightly below average. Take, for example, Allegrini, one of the most emblematic names, whose wines boast exceptional texture and energy that is already evident today. More importantly, the concentration of the grapes, perceivable on the palate, is unique, memorable, and stands apart from others. A notable sweetness is balanced by a structural density that envelops and warms the palate. Bold pairings with game and intensely flavored sauces could be worth trying—the contrast might just surprise you.  Made with Corvina Veronese 40%, Corvinone 40%, Rondinella 15%, Oseleta 5%; the grapes are left to dry in the lofts for approximately 5 months. After a gentle pressing, the wine ferments in stainless steel and ages for 14 months in new barriques, 2 months in large barrels, and approximately 10 months in the bottle.
