The black on white story written by Cinzia Benzi
Together with the splendid images by Francesca Brambilla and Serena Serrani, ‘Château d’Yquem, genesis of a myth’ is the greatest historical insight ever written on this iconic Château, which has marked the history of Sauternes. A project that goes back a long way. The impetus is Cinzia’s dazzling passion for this reality. She has been studying the terroir of Yquem for decades. Years of travel and comparisons, memories that have taken shape and give us anecdotes of this prestigious reality still unknown to the general public. This research work has involved Cinzia, who has thus confirmed to herself her passion for wine, a specific wine: Yquem.
The monograph, published by “seipersei“ and available in all bookshops, retraces the history of the winery and reveals how and why Yquem was born and how time has been the biggest factor in the worldwide success of the French sweet wine. Space is also given to the story of the changes in style that have taken place over time and to the human element: from the vision of Joséphine Sauvage d’Yquem to the current president and general manager Pierre Lurton, together with the very Italian directeur d’exploitation Lorenzo Pasquini, who today projects Yquem into a more contemporary dimension, always faithful to its origins. There are many contributions to this text to intersperse the reading and give a complete overview of this icon.
‘Life is like the vine that changes its leaves, produces its fruit, but the real value is the roots firmly planted in the earth‘, thus concludes an emotional Cinzia Benzi, author of the book.
