Cathiard and Moulin families acquire 3 châteaux
The family Cathiard is buying a Pomerol, Sauternes and Graves
On July, 3, the families Moulin, owners of Galeries Lafayette and Cathiard, owners of Château Smith Haut Lafitte have formalized the acquisition of four wineries: Château Beauregard (Pomerol), Château Bastor Lamontagne (Sauternes), Le Pavillon de Beauregard and the Château Saint-Robert (Graves) for an amount unknown. With a total acquisition of 110 hectares (17 hectares for Beauregard, 52 hectares for Bastor Lamontagne, 8 hectares for Pavilion Beauregard, 33 hectares for the Chateau Saint Robert) in three different Bordeaux appellations, we can see a desire to create a range. The family Cathiard “gives its undeniable expertise in the wine sector service areas to ensure the management and sustainability with the support team in place.” In that sense; the Moulin family will bring its financial strength and may be its expertise and know-how in marketing for high-end product.
