Manuel Olivier, Les Damaudes 2021 – Vosne-Romanée

Manuel Olivier, Les Damaudes 2021 – Vosne-Romanée

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is subtle, but concentrated and complex. The first nose expresses a delicate, but precise floral aroma (rose, violet, peony, field flowers, cornflower), associated with savoury notes of aromatic herbs (dried thyme, wild mint), spices (ground cumin, crushed seeds of coriander, licorice), as well as a smoky touch of bergamot and Earl Gray black tea. We then find red fruits (red cherry, cranberries, wild strawberries, raspberries) and black fruits (mirtylle, morello cherry), completed by a touch of mint chocolate and coffee. The palate is ample, enveloping and juicy. The attack offers notes of ripe fruit (red cherry, strawberry, raspberry, cranberries, blueberry, wild blackberry), associated with savory notes (roasted meat, smoke), spicy (ground cumin, licorice, roasted coriander seeds), herbaceous (roasted bouquet garni, dried mint) and floral (dried rose petals, iris, cornflower) which then develop. The tannins are round, fine and enveloped. Good length, with lots of sapidity, which continues with generous but elegant smoky and fruity notes, with a slight bitterness and a nice acidity. A refined and complex wine, with delicacy and gourmandize.
