A year full of activities and celebrations
To celebrate the first 100 years of activity in the promotion of Chianti Classico, the Consortium invites everyone on May 14 at 2.30 p.m. at the Palazzo dei 500 in Florence.
Work to enhance the value of Chianti Classico began one hundred years ago and continues to this day, underpinned by dedication, commitment, and passion, ensuring the wine is increasingly appreciated and established in international markets. At the forefront of our minds is the path taken to date, the history of our denomination, and the importance of expressing the area’s identity and cultural value through the products.
The royal decree of 7th March 1924 made possible the establishment of the Consorzi di Tutela, with 33 founding fathers the first to seize the opportunity to protect and preserve Chianti Classico wine, its territory, landscape, and economy.
On 14th May 2024, the day that marks a century since the signing of the pact by the founding producers, a conference is scheduled at 2.30 pm CEST in the Salone dei Cinquecento in the Palazzo Vecchio in Florence. Among the topics discussed will be the intrinsic link between our wine and its land, the cultural landscape, and sustainability. Alongside regional and local institutions, speakers will include scientific experts and representatives of other significant denominations like Champagne, Port, Barolo, Burgundy and, of course, Oregon.
