Vieux Château Labatut 2022 – Montagne Saint-Emilion

Vieux Château Labatut 2022 – Montagne Saint-Emilion

The wine has a bright ruby color of medium intensity. The wine is reserved on the nose and requires aeration. Then, it reveals refreshing herbal notes (peppermint, fresh pine needles, a sappy touch), as well as a refined spiciness (liquorice, cardamom, a hint of nutmeg). Then, we find notes of morello cherry, blackberry, fresh blackcurrant, dried blackcurrant and red cherry, as well as a hint of red cherry jam, chocolate and violet. The palate is supple, juicy and refined, with enveloping, polished and structured tannins, slightly grippy. It expresses flavors of morello cherry, bigarreau cherry, blackcurrant, cranberries, dried pine needles, as well as peppermint, cardamom, liquorice and violet in the background. Beautiful salivating acidity, a good bitterness on the finish, which persists on a distinct note of red cherry. Good structure, straightness and freshness and a chiseled frame.
