Tenuta Castelbuono, Carapace 2011 – Montefalco Sagrantino DOCG

The nose is elegant, fresh and offers deepness as well as a a slightly rougher but delicate side. There are notes of wild dry cassis, wild blackberry and small notes of quite ripe wild strawberry associated with touches of local dry soil as well as slight hints of spices, a discreet hint of tea and undergrowth. The mouth is beautifuly fresh, precise, gourmand, stretched and offers width, elegance in its « raw » side, a fresh trame as well as tension. In the mouth this wine expresses notes of juicy/ pulpy blackberry, crushed cassis and small notes of roasted-juicy plum associated with touches of roasted red berries as well as hints of tonka beans, undergrowth and a subtle almost mushroom hint. Good length. A subtle hint of balsamic. Slightly marked tannins. Very discreetly tight finish.
