Michel Redde et Fils, Barre à Mine 2022 – Blanc Fumé de Pouilly

Michel Redde et Fils, Barre à Mine 2022 – Blanc Fumé de Pouilly

The wine has a pale lemon yellow color. The first nose is discreet, it expresses light notes of crunchy golden apple, yellow peach, ripe apricot and candied lemon peel. After aeration, the wine offers pronounced mineral aromas – the smoky touch of flint, limestone (even chalk), dry stone, as well as dried lime, dried chamomile, dried green apple and grapefruit zest. Then, we find notes of buckwheat honey, beeswax, as well as moist leaves in the background and spices (nutmeg, saffron). The palate offers complexity, tangy and juicy fruits, racy minerality and a fine spiciness. It expresses the flavors of green apple, crunchy apricot, white peach and yellow lemon in the attack, combined with notes of candied lemon peel, dried lemon zest, gunflint and limestone in the middle of the mouth. In the finish, we find dried flowers (lime blossom, dried chamomile), honey, nutmeg and saffron. Good persistence in the mouth, with bitterness of grapefruit and limestone and chalkiness, and nice salivating acidity.
