The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. On the nose, it is rather reserved, but offers concentration and opens up after aeration. It initially expresses a clear minerality in notes of limestone, dry stones and slightly saline, which are then complemented by floral (wild rose, cornflower), herbaceous (dried peppermint, fresh tea, a hint of fresh tobacco and rose leaf), fruity aromas (red cherry, raspberry, strawberry, blueberry, a touch of morello cherry and blackcurrant), as well as a hint of white pepper and bitter almond in the background. The palate is tight, with a noticeable bitterness on the attack (reminiscent of grapefruit and bergamot) and grippy, tight, slightly grainy tannins. It then expresses notes of black fruits (blackcurrant, bird cherry, morello cherry), associated with tangy flavors of red fruits (raspberry, bigarreau cherry, cranberries). We also sense herbaceous notes of black tea, dried blackcurrant leaf and rose stem, complemented by peppery touches (crushed black pepper, Timut pepper) and cardamom. The finish is quite persistent, with a salivating acidity and a good bitterness of grapefruit, bird cherry and cocoa.
