Ettore Germano, Cerretta 2020 – Barolo

Ettore Germano, Cerretta 2020 – Barolo

The wine has a pale ruby color. The nose is reserved and requires aeration. It then expresses notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, gray pepper, a touch of liquorice), aromatic herbs (bay leaf, dried mint), flowers (wild rose, lilac), as well as a fine minerality (rock, limestone), associated with juicy fruity notes (crushed raspberry, wild strawberry, red cherry, elderberry, cranberries), as well as a touch of cocoa and toasted almond in the background. The palate expresses notes of tangy but juicy fruits (wild strawberry, crushed morello cherry, red currant, elderberry, a hint of blueberry and macerated cherry in the background), associated with spicy touches of licorice, gray pepper and licorice, roasted aromatic herbs, flowers (withered rose, dried peony, lilac), as well as a good bitterness of coffee and dark chocolate. The finish expresses tight tannins, but balanced by a salivating acidity, a good bitterness, as well as fruit juiciness and a herbaceous touch on the persistence. A somewhat discreet wine on the nose, but gourmand on the palate.
