Clément & Florian Bertier, La Croix Renaud 2019 – Sancerre

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is tasty and aromatic, expressing notes of liquorice, pine bark (even pine sap) and fresh pine needles, as well as a hint of lightly toasted wood. There is also a fragrant and elegant floral bouquet (violet, wisteria, lilac, a touch of wild rose), associated with a juicy fruity material (bigarreau cherry, morello cherry, crushed blueberry, fresh raspberry, crunchy strawberry, a hint of blackcurrant jam) and a hint of fresh tobacco liquorice and fresh tea leaf. The palate offers a lively and punchy tangy frame, plenty of freshness and sharp acidity. It expresses notes of bigarreau cherry, blueberry, blackcurrant, cranberry and raspberry, combined with sappy nuances (pine needles, pine bark, pine sap), a hint of liquorice, fresh flowers (violet, wild rose, lilac), as well as a bitterness and a tangy touch almost reminiscent of citrus fruits. The finish is persistent, expressive, with a distinct and dominant flavor of red cherry. The tannins are solid and fine.
